Care leave for your child or family

If you have to take leave to look after your child or a family member, we will support you as best we can. As with all leaves, we realise that every situation is different. We'll work with you to determine the best course of action for you.

Below, you can find the Social Security policy.

For children.

Parents can take time off work to care for a sick or injured child under the age of 12. The time off work may total up to 30 days per year or an entire period of hospitalisation. The same period of absence is permitted for parents of children with a disability or chronic illness, regardless of the child's age.

Parents may be absent from work for up to 15 days per year in the event of illness or accidents involving children over the age of 12.

Other rights for parents with children.

For children under 12.

  • Normal working hours may be reduced by half, for both parents, in successive periods;
  • Flexible working hours can be taken by either or both parents. Which, in our case, is not an issue because we are always flexible.
  • Absence for up to four hours to go to the child's school once per quarter.

For children under 3.

For children under 1.

  • Even though it won't apply in our case, Social Security determines an exemption from working overtime.
