Returning to Work
Please note this has been written with long leave in mind. Your return to work may be different or not need as much consideration if you have only been on leave for a short period of time.
Welcome back. You've been missed!
Returning to work after an extended period of leave can feel strange and nerve-wracking, and we're here to support you in settling back in and finding your new rhythm.
Confirm your return date.
Unless you notify us otherwise, we will anticipate your return on your previously agreed return date. Please give us as much notice as you can. If you decide not to return to work, you must give notice of resignation in accordance with the terms of your contract.
Talk to us about your needs and preferences.
Everyone's needs will be different, and with this in mind, we encourage you to open up about yours confidently. Don't feel any pressure to come to us with a solution already mapped out. Or alternatively, we can get there together.
Build a return plan together.
We're here to support you in returning back to work. From our experience, we know that some things are going to take some adjusting to during your early weeks and months, and you might even feel the need to change some things about how you work. Therefore, it might be valuable to:
- Get re-onboarded with your Manager and the People and Operations team.
- Catch up with new starters. There's a good chance there may be some new faces across the team when you return. Feel free to approach and get to know them.
- Carefully plan what you're going to tackle in your early weeks. Returning to work can be daunting, so lean on your Manager to support you in getting back into the thick of it.
- Set your goals and your Career path. It's time to pick up where you left off, and we know an important part of this is setting some personal objectives and working on your Personal development . Whilst there is no pressure on you, it may take you some time to settle back in. Know that your career progression is important to us.
Review how you work flexibly.
Working at Significa has always meant having the ability to work flexibly.
However, it's likely this need is going to feel far more acute after a long period away from us. Working hours and location may help you think about how you would like to get back to work, but make sure you speak to your Manager if you would like to make other arrangements.
Lean on your Manager.
Your Manager is your point of contact if you need to talk about anything or if you need any additional support. They can help you focus and optimise your time, bringing you back to the rhythm of Significa.
